Madhya Pradesh earns right to take on Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi, August 30: Madhya Pradesh struck twice through Gwalior lads Rohit Dhami and Shreyansh Shukla in the second half today to edge out Uttarakhand in the race for the second quarterfinal berth from Group C in the National Talent Search and Nurture football championship being conducted by the School Sports Promotion Foundation here.

Madhya Pradesh will meet Group A winner Uttar Pradesh in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

In a needle game in Group D at DPS Ghaziabad, Bihar beat Jammu and Kashmir 4-0 to top the league and earn the right to play Rajasthan, placed second in Group B, in the quarterfinals. Priyanshu (ninth and 22nd minutes), Saharsh Kumar (69) and Ashsih Kumar (73) were the scorers for Bihar. Jammu and Kashmir will take on Jharkhand in the opening quarterfinal.

Quarterfinal schedule (Wednesday, August 31, 2016): Jharkhand vs Jammu and Kashmir (8-00 a.m.), Rajasthan v Bihar (10-15 a.m.), DPS Ghaziabad; Haryana vs Telangana (8-00 a.m.), Uttar Pradesh vs Madhya Pradesh (10-15 a.m.), Salwan Public School, Loni.

The semifinals will be played at the Salwan Public School, Loni, and the final and the third place play-off will be staged at the DDA Sports Complex at the Commonwealth Games Village in Akshardham.
