Will International Cricket Get Next Imran Tahir From West Bengal?

Pritam Hela, a 12-year-old child and a huge fan of South African leg spinner Imran Tahir wants to make it big in Cricket. A budding leg spinner from Howrah district of West Bengal. Pritam is 8th class student who is dreaming big and to make it to the International cricket he has started his cricket journey with SSPF Schools India Cup.

In the cluster level tournament, he has played 3 matches from his school team. In these matches Pritam has taken 7 crucial wickets and won 2 Man of The Match titles. It’s due to his performance that his school Andhra Association School is on the top of the point table with clear victory in every match. His father Rajendra Hela is a Govt. officer and mother Sharmila Hela is a housewife.

As we all know Bengal’s first love is football, which is why Pritam’s father always wanted him to play football. But Pritam preferred cricket ball instead of football. At the age of 8 he started taking cricket coaching from his coach Bidyut Mukherjee’s cricket academy Jagacha Thana Zonal Sports Association, Howrah. The credit to explore his potential as a leg spinner goes to Mr. Mukherjee. According to him- “when Pritam came to him he use to bowl pace while he can turn his wrist well. His wrist action was ideal for a natural leg spinner. So I told him to change from pace bowling to spin and he is now working hard for it.”

To fulfill his dream to be a successful cricketer Pritam doesn’t hesitate to make an extra effort to attend school and then back to back coaching from school.  He even gets up early in the morning on his holidays on Saturdays and Sundays and goes for coaching by 6.30 am.

12 is such an age where you are at the stage of leaving your childhood and about to hold hands of your teens. At this agelittle Bengal champ aiming high for his passion of life which is now cricket for him. We wish him all the luck for his future so he achieves all the goals he wants to.

SSPF Player Diganta Neogi Making Mark To Be The Next Promising Cricketer

Creating Winning Opportunity” is a tag line on which SSPF believes in. The best example to prove this tagline is the winning start of budding cricketer Diganta Neogi sporting journey. Diganta, the youngster who was the part of the winning team of BCCI Board Trophy (East Zone).

Neogi was just 15 years old IX class student when he participated in SSPF through his school Akshar School of North Kolkata, West Bengal. That was the first interaction between SSPF and Diganta and now in less than 2 years span Diganta has made his mark to prove the world that Cricket is not just his hobby but his passion.

He was just 6 years old when he first held a cricket bat in his hands. At the age of 14, he got the chance to play under- 14 Cricket Association of Bengal Ambar Roy Tournament. His team not only won the tournament but he was the Man of the Match of the final match with 103 runs and 3 wickets as well as Man of the Series. He was also the part of the Bengal U-15 side.

This was the time when SSPF came into his game. He represented his state in the SSPF National Cricket Tournament and selected for the National Camp. Here he got training under eminent cricketers and coaches like Surinder Khanna and Chetan Sharma. Remembering his camp days Diganta said- “We were given a lot of match practice which helped me in improving my temperament and resulted in me performing well in the Vijay Merchant Trophy for my state Bengal.”

In BCCI U- 16 Vijay Merchant Trophy his team reached the semi-finals. He was amongst the top 10 highest run getters of the tournament. He got selected for the Zonal Cricket Academy in Ranchi. He scored a century in the trial matches to be part of the East Zone team which was playing the BCCI Zonal Trophy in Hyderabad. We also ended up winning the tournament.

SSPF is really proud to have such a talent who took part in the initiative of SSPF to promote sports at the grassroots level.

Get Set Go , It’s Time For Diya Nair’s Show

Stage has been set and countdown has begun for the first ever girls’ competition in the history of SSPF. Yes, you have heard it right. Athletics is all set to begin its district level competitions. It is the only sport where girls’ teams are also participating from across the country. More power to WOMEN SPORTS! More power to women who participate in sports despite the challenges they meet everyday.

To showcase the hidden athlete in these power puffed girls, we have identified one budding talent from Ahmedabad. This bright teenager girl Diya Nair is a IX standard student of Euro School – Ahmedabad. She was very excited when she came to know about this event from her Coach Joseph Sabastian. She is so thrilled when she heard that her school has also registered for SCHOOLS INDIA CUP 2017. Her favorite tagline is- Get Set Go, Its Time For Diya Nair’s Show!!!

“I am happy to know that special emphasis is given on female participation. I had participated in other sports meet like “Khel Mahakumbh” etc. What I feel special about SSPF is that it’s the 1st time ever a talent hunt for sports at grassroots level is conducted and the talent will be further nurtured to win medal for Country.” she said.

She is very positive that she will make a mark in here. Diya is optimistic that her coach Joseph Sabastian will guide her well to do the same. “I am training under My Coach Joseph Sabastian since last 6 Months for Athletics. I have been doing Athletic even before but after being trained under Joseph sir I am getting to know the technicalities of each type of exercises and drills. These training gave me a different insight about the sport.”

Diya told us- “For SSPF we are trained 4 days a week for 3 to 4 hrs. We do ground training as well as weight training for strength. Plyometrics, Strength Endurance, Resistance, Planks, Ground Drills and much more in our practice schedule, our coach train us hard and makes sure that we get proper diet because according to him medals can’t only be won by will power. Each and every aspect plays an important role i.e, techniques, diet, guidance, and will power. In the mentor ship of Joseph sir and with the support of Gurvinder ma’am sure we will win Medals in SCHOOLS INDIA CUP 2017.”

Looking forward for this event under SSPF which will give me a platform to further rise to National and International levels and win Medal for my country making my parents, my mentor, my teachers, friends and moreover my country proud.

Cluster Level Cricket Tournament Will Kick Start From 19th July 2017 In Lakhimpur

19th June 2017 is the day when Lakhimpur district in Uttar Pradesh will witness one of the most exciting cricket matches under Schools India Cup 2017. It is the 10th district from the state where SSPF will conduct its cluster level matches of Schools India Cup 2017. The matches will kick start from 19th June and first cluster will get over by 21st of June 2017.
In this cluster 4 schools are participating-:
• Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College
• Swami Shyam Prakash Inter College
• St. Don Bosco College
• Paul International School
Uttar Pradesh: The Hub Of Cricket
Being the largest state of India, many big sports personalities have come from this state. In Cricket this state has produced few of the most popular all- rounders like Suresh Raina and Piyush Chawla. When it comes to the Indian pace attack, we have R P Singh and Praveen Kumar. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the budding cricketers who are participating in Schools India Cup.
This season, two schools are new entries whereas St. Don Bosco College and Paul International School are associated with SSPF since its first year. In Cricket, Uttar Pradesh is the state where highest number of districts have been played under Schools India Cup 2017 till date.
When it comes to pan India reach, SSPF has large number of schools playing under Schools India Cup. Just to mention the versatility if we talk about Cricket, 5 states and 9 districts have taken part in the cluster level tournament so far. In these districts, 109 matches have been completed.
One can imagine the outreach of such grass roots program that under these 506 matches more than 1,500 children have taken part. These figures are only for one sport i.e. Cricket but apart from this Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Athletics are also under SSPF this year.
So let’s celebrate the sporty spirit of Schools India Cup and wish all players registered under SSPF best of luck for the tournament. Now our all eyes and wishes are with Lakhimpur schools who will be in face off with one another from 19th June.

“Keep Calm and Play Schools India Cup 2017”- Surinder Khanna

I am 60 years of age but I still eat, sleep and think cricket. At this age also I have the same passion for the game like any other young player.  And after seeing so many future cricketers playing under one roof of Schools India Cup, I am overwhelmed. It is my second season as Secretary, SSPF National Cricket Council and it is an amazing experience to see budding talent from all over the country.

This season so far we have covered 5 states at the cluster level. I must admit that we have seen some brilliant talent like Aryan Sidharth Pawar- the run machine of Holy Cross Sr. Sec. School Haridwar scored this double ton against S.M.T. Neema Devi Kala Public School. I just gone through the scoresheet and was so excited to see such talent who has 12 sixes and 24 fours which is equivalent to 168 runs just from boundaries. He can do wonders if given the right guidance and coaching.

Oh! How can I forget about Ram! He is the Indian cricket sensation and you can also call him Dhoni’s predecessor. Ram Raushan Sharan from Jawahar Vidya Mandir school, Shayamali. He not only scored 143 not out in just 80 balls during a cluster level match against International Public School, Kanke.  He also took 2 vital wickets in that match which proves that he is an excellent all-rounder in making.

In our first season, I have seen such immense talent in the young generation. I still remember the days of our National camp held in Dehradun’s leading school SelaQui International School. It was a 10 days’ camp and I was the head coach. I must say that I learnt a lot from Gen X. I met Sanchit Pasricha from Delhi who is a Chinaman bowler, K SARVAN KUMAR who came all the way from Telangana to attend the camp. I have shared all my expertise and techniques of the sport with these children and observed that given a right opportunities and guidance they can do wonders.

This season we will find more and more talent and as per our mission to give these young players a proper guidance we will soon come up with a center of excellence. It will be one special school where all selected players from this season and previous season will get admission and the expense of their study will be taken care by SSPF. They will get the best of coaching to excel in their favorite sport.

So I just want to wish all the superstar players of tomorrow to play with passion, practice with honesty, believe in yourself and sky will be the limit for you.

Best of luck, CHAMPIONS! J

Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shamali Is On A Row To Produce Another Dhoni !!!

Ram Raushan Sharan, 9th class student of  Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shayamali made 143 not out in just 80 balls during a cluster level match against International Public School, kanke.  Just the same talent from the same school at almost same age.

Yes!!! You guessed it right; we are talking about the former captain cool of team India M. S. Dhoni aka Mahi. The boy from JVM School who changed the history of Indian cricket.

Though it is very early to predict but SSPF is so excited to have Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shayamali registered and playing with us. The same school which has a proud past of producing players like Dhoni.

In his innings, Ram Raushan has scored 18 fours and 7 sky- high sixes. Out of 143 runs he made 114 runs just from boundaries. That’s not all where he stoped. He also took one of the most vital catches of Iftikhar Alam and one wicket of Tanishq Paul L from the opponent team.

In the Ranchi district, 5 clusters with 20 schools have taken part in SSPF Schools India Cup 2017. Jharkhand has produced many sports person who has brought glory to the nation. SSPF also hope to have that privilege that future sports star from this state will play for SSPF in his growing years.

Little Wonder Boy Of Cricket From Haridwar Strikes A Double Century

213 runs in just 76 balls. It is not a score of any National or International player, it is an amazing mark achieved by a 14 year school boy playing under SSPF School India Cup’s cluster level cricket tournament.

Aryan Sidharth Panwar of Holy Cross Sr. Sec. School Haridwar scored this double ton against S.M.T. Neema Devi Kala Public School. In his innings, Aryan hit 12 sixes and 24 fours that means out of his total of 213 runs, 168 runs were scored by boundaries and only 45 runs were made by running between the wickets.

With the help of excellent 213 runs inning of Aryan, his team Holy Cross Sr. Sec. School Haridwar was able to set a target of 356 runs and able to beat S.M.T. Neema Devi Kala Public School by a huge margin of 200 runs.

Aryan is an all- rounder, this right handed batsman not only piled up so many runs against the opponent team but also has taken two wickets of Akash Kumar and Aditya Singh of S.M.T. Neema Devi Kala Public School team. He bowled both the batsman to contribute in his team’s victory.

Aryan is the son of a BSF Jawan Mr. Subhash Panwar and his mother Savita Panwar is a Govt. school teacher in Haridwar. Apart from his studies, Aryan is setting a bench mark for every young cricketer by showcasing such brilliant talent on field.

Sameer’s Journey In SSPF : What His Proud Father Sees

I, as a parent, have been closely observing the activities of SSPF. I must say that they have made tremendous progress in the first year itself.

Why do I say so?

Well I got to know of SSPF when they had organized the first round of School level Football tournament in Gurgaon and other places in 2016.My son, Sameer Seshadri, went on to play from school to district to State in July 2016.

  1. Finally the Nationals at Delhi in Sep 2016. What is noteworthy is these matches were well managed without any issues.
  2. Thereafter Sameer was selected to train in the National Camp at Dehradun. Here again the arrangements were excellent in terms of stay, food and coaching.
  3. When I heard of the Football Tournament in Apr 2017 between SSPF and BBFS, we were really excited. The game and the overall feel of the tournament was great. The most appreciable aspect was the opportunity for the boys to interact and also play with Bhaichung Bhutia and Rennedy Singh. This was an absolutely high level motivation for the team.

The entire sequence of the above events shows a structured approach, professional effort and dedication to a set goal. This is what I call “tremendous progress”

Added to this is great teamwork among the boys and the efforts of an exceptional Coach Deepak Jha.

Our sincere appreciation goes out to Mr. Om Pathak for his vision and the entire team of SSPF for all that is done so far and look forward to even greater contribution to the field of Sports.
